Family Dance Party

We often have a dance party in the evenings. Each family member chooses a song and we all get to dance. Coldplay, Jack Johnson, Gun N Roses, and Metallica are in heavy rotation. Recently, PJ has started branching out.

Here was his most recent choice. Notice how the littlest one reacts.

We are doing something right.

A Musical Family

We sure are becoming a musical family. PJ has an actual guitar thanks to uncle B and my little sister.

He plays "coldplay, Metallica, and the wheels on that bus" according to his manager (himself).

And our little girl plays "oooooo" on the front and a mean drum line on the back of her wii guitar.

Kids. Awesome.

But it may be getting into someone's head...

Dirty Dancing Isn't For Everyone

Its a well known fact around these parts that PJ is really into music, specifically hard-core music like Metallica. Over the past few years I've grown to enjoy (or at least deal with) his type of music. Sadly, he is not as generous.

Recently I've Had The Time of My Life from Dirty Dancing came on the radio. I instantly started dancing in the driver seat when a howl came out of the backseat, followed by "Nein! Mommy! Nope!" My heart dropped and I really thought something was hurting my beloved child in the back seat.

It was the music. He wanted me - he begged me - to change the song. He actually called that wonderful piece of musical history a "bad, bad song."

Are. You. Serious?!

When we got to a stop light, I snapped a picture of his super pouty face.

Sigh. What a critic.

The Beatles x2

PJ displayed interest in music at any early age and now Jelly Bean is following in his footsteps. However, while PJ went towards harder music, like the famous Metallica lullaby, Jelly Bean is showing preference towards hiphop (Lord, help me) and folk (yeah!).

Yet, their music taste overlaps in some areas, like Oasis, Martin & James, and - of course - The Beatles. Remember when PJ wore this T-shirt?

Damn, our kids are cute ;)

Video: Pick-You-Up

We've got a couple loyal Pickles and Onions readers out there that are in need of a pick-me-up. Turn up your speakers, click "full screen" on the video, and try to remember: life is good.

We are thinking of you and loving each of you from near and far.

Thanks to the Chelle Belle and her lovely husband for PJ's awesome CD of dancing music.

Stupendous Solids

Should have known it was coming faster than I expected (or hoped) after the high chair: PJ is eating solids! He has been staring us down and trying to steal food (with at least one success) for the past two weeks. Although he is a little younger than five months, we offered him the chance to eat some carrots and he leaped at them, quickly swallowing each and every bite.

We started slow:

But by the second night he was going crazy, getting more involved in the process, and eating almost half a jar before rejecting the spoon.

Extra points for those that can identify the music in the background. Seriously, this kid has no chance of having bad taste in music!

As much fun as it may be to share some more solid food with PJ, the diapers are significantly less fun. Thanks to the person who so cleverly designed this onsie:
The fun part

The Not-Fun Part

My, my, how does the time fly!

Daddy & Baby

Remember when I bragged about PJ's excellent taste in music? Add Metallica to the list ... as a lullaby!
